PRAYERS

We believe that whatever tradition you follow, a spiritual path will give you greater understanding, and allow you to share your love and compassion with others.  In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and in our monastery, we perform prayers for the benefit of all sentient beings, and for universal harmony.

Prayers are also performed for the removal of obstacles, for success and to attain a better life after rebirth.

Here in Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, we can also perform special prayers for you and your loved ones.  We are doing our best to give our full support to all organizations and individuals during difficult times by offering prayers as requested.  We invite you to sponsor prayers in the monastery, thereby benefiting not only yourself, but also all the monks.  All the offerings received through prayers are used to support the members of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery.

Prayers can be offered for the following:

For relief from sickness

For success in your activities

For the deceased, and for a good rebirth

For a long life

To remove obstacles

For world peace

Performing prayers and offerings to the deities with a sincere motivation will definitely help you to remove difficulties, to prevent unfavourable circumstances and to be successful in all your undertakings. The underlying objectives of any kind of prayer performed in the monastery are for the betterment of all the sentient beings, for the avoidance of natural calamities in this universe and for the teachings of Buddha to remain for as long as possible.

A selection of the prayers which can be offered for you, for your relatives and friends and the approximate cost of the necessary offerings are set out in the following table:

If you have a particular for a request for a prayer not mentioned in this table, please contact us for information.

In addition it is customary to make an offering to each of the monks in the monastery who will be offering the prayers on your behalf.  The amount can be entirely up to you - anything from INR 10/- to INR 500/- for each monk.  There are 400 monks in the monastery who would receive this offering.
