Kachen Lobzang Tsultimwas born in Alchi in Ladakh.He joined Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in 1986, and has completed his studies as Kachen Lharampa.He is Principal of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery’s school, and as part of his work has been studying English at a school in the south of England over the past year.
Kachen Chultim Nima was born in Nubra, Ladakh and joined Diskit Monastery when he was 12 years old.He came to Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in 1984, and qualified as Kachen Lharampa (Highest Degree of Doctor of Divinity) in 2006.He is responsible for the teaching of Debate in the monastery.
Ven Nawang Lobsangjoined the Monastery in 1989 at the age of sixteen.Having begun his monastic studies, he served as Attendant to Khen Rinpoche, the previous Abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery.Within the monastery, he is responsible for the Tantric College, and, as a very experienced dancer,is the Master of Dance or Champon of the Monastery.
Ven Lobzang Thokmedis a talented thangka painter and also specialises in the construction of sand mandalas.He is an accomplished Cham dancer, and has travelled to Europe, the United States and other parts of the world as part of a tour group.
Ven Lobzang Padmawas born in Nubra, Ladakh, and joined Diskit Monastery at 7 years old.After one year, he transferred to Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, where he studied in the monastery school until completing 7th Class.Ven Lobsang Pedma is an expert at playing the Dungchen (Long Horn), and is studying in the Debate Class in the monastery.
Ven Lobzang Tundup (Kushu la) joined Likir Monastery in Ladakh in 1991, where he first went to school.He is now working in the Library, and is experienced in typing Tibetan text.He plays Khangling and the Conch Shell Trumpet.He has one brother and one sister.
Ven Lachenpa Gyaltsen Choega (Lhakpa la) was born in Sikkim and has six brothers and one sister.He has been a member of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery for twelve years, and is studying philosophy as well as the art of dance and playing the Dungchen.He is a community health worker, in charge of the Dispensary and drives the Monastery’s ambulance.
Ven Phuntsog Namgialwas born in Ladakh in 1984, and joined Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in order to study Buddhist Philosophy.He is one of three monks who is travelling to the United Kingdom for the first time in 2009, having already toured in Taiwan in 2008.
Tour Manager: Jane Rasch Tour Manager, workshop coordinator, announcer and minibus driver, began working with Tibetans in 1988, and for Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in 2002, and runs the monastery’s charitable trust in the UK.
