"I fully understand the difficulties and that the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery monks in South India are going through.
Therefore I ... welcome any assistance given to the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in South India."
H.H. the Dalai Lama
Patron of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery UK Trust
Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in South India was re-established in 1972 under the direction of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Now home to over 400 monks, the Monastery continues to work to preserve their unique culture in exile. Each monk who chooses to join the Monastery family will be looked after for the rest of his life.
Everything you give will be used to support the monks, young and old, who study and live in Tashi Lhunpo, benefitting the whole community.
Currently the UK Trust covers payments annually to support different departments in the monastery. If you would like to contribute in particular to one of these projects, please message us through the donation form.
£780 per year supplements a Teacher's salary
£235 per month contributes towards the cost of electricity supply to the entire monastery
The monks are happy to make special prayers by request for particular purposes. According to tradition, offerings are made to cover the expenses of these prayers, and details of the different prayer offerings can be found here. Please note on the donation form which prayers you would like the monks to offer on your behalf, with details of anyone for whom the prayers are being made and their date of birth. If you would like an acknowledgement of the donation and information about the day on which the prayers were carried out, please contact us.
If you are interested in making a donation to a particular project, you can note this on the donation form. The current major project is the construction of the new Library - please see details here.
