Tashi Lhunpo Monastery Library

The Monastery Library was established in 1983, and is instrumental in preserving Mahayana Buddhist Philosophy. A Library Committee has been established, and the monks have free access to books and other resources. See special projects.

Talhun Thangka Painting School

In 1996, the Thangka Painting Centre was established with four students to preserve the cultural tradition of religious painting. Students on the six-year course include both monks and lay people, and plans are being made to extend the centre.

 

 


TashiLhunpoMonasteryDispensaryTashi Lhunpo Monastery Dispensary


The Dispensary offers free treatment to the monks, lay people and anyone who visits from the local area. Opened in 1998, the Dispensary is staffed by a monk trained as a nurse. When further financial support is available, the monastery hopes to extend the services offered, both to the monks and to the local people.

Incense Factory

Shi Kham Kun Kyab (Over Spread Paradise) Incense is made from 48 medical herbs gathered in Tibet and the Himalayas. The   method of preparation is the same as the ancient technique followed in Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Tibet. Shi Kham Kun Kyab   incense is recommended for soothing the nerves, providing a sense of security to aid peaceful and perfect meditation, a pleasant   smell and to improve the clarity of vision of the mind.
