	Be a Sponsor Why be a Sponsor? Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in South India was re-established in 1972 under the direction of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Now home to 250 monks, the monastery continues to work to preserve their unique culture in exile. The running of the monastery and the education of young monks is solely dependent on public support and individual donation. Ten percent of the monks are elderly or suffering from long-term illnesses and have no family or relatives to support them. By sponsoring a monk – young or old – your money will be used to cover their basic needs such as food, clothing, healthcare and education. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has particularly requested assistance for Tashi Lhunpo Monastery because of its special difficulties in exile. For just £15 a month, you can really make a difference to someone’s quality of life. Please consider becoming a long-term sponsor of one of Tashi Lhunpo’s monks. Please. Sponsor One Of The Monks There are 250 monks studying in Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, many of whom are in need of sponsors so that they can continue their work, and in order to support the life of the monastery. Below are photographs of some of the monks who are looking for sponsors. If you would like to sponsor one of these monks, please email info@tashi-lhunpo.org.uk for a Sponsorship Form and return it to Tashi Lhunpo Monastery UK Trust. You will then be sent the original form and photograph. If you would like to see more photographs, then please e-mail info@tashi-lhunpo.org.uk with your name and address to request further Information. The usual amount suggested for sponsorship is £15 per month (£180 per year), but it is of course possible to vary this amount if you choose to do so. In the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery scheme, the money sent by sponsors goes direct to the Monastery to pay for food, medicines and other essentials, rather than to the individual monk himself. At the age of 7 he joined Tashi Lhunpo monastery in order to get good education on both Buddhist philosophy and modern education. The Monastery is trying its best to fulfil his aim but faces problems due to over growing numbers of new monks. Kindly extend your help for his future education costs! Lobsang Dorjee – Dob 26.01.1991 - 666 He was born in India. He joined Dishet Monastery at Nubra, Ladhak at the age of 7. At 11 he joined the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery and studying in 3^rd grade at Tashi Lhunpo Monastic school. He is also studying Buddhist philosophy. He has great zeal to pursue in learning and please extend your financial aid to him for his further educational cost and basic needs. Back to Top Tenzin Tharpa – Dob 1991 - 726 He was born in India and studied in good school. At the age of 11 he joined Karcha Jampaling Monastery. In 2003 he joined Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in order to get education on both Buddhist philosophy and modern education. The monastery is trying its best to fulfill his aim but faces problems due to overgrowing numbers of new comers. Please extend your help. Lobsang Gyalysen – Dob 01.04.92 - 689 He is a son of farmers from Khunu, north of India, He joined this monastery in 2003 to earn better education on Buddhist Philosphopy and education. He received his Novice monk’s ordination. His daily needs are met by the monastery even as it faces difficulties. Please extend your help for his further educational costs and daily needs.
